Uses of TRANARK
An antifibrinolytic that reduces bleeding by preventing the breakdown of clot that has already formed. It does not promote clotting; it stops established clot being dissolved prematurely.
Large trials have established its role in trauma and in obstetric haemorrhage, and both show the same thing: the benefit depends heavily on giving it early.
- Traumatic haemorrhage, given early
- Postpartum haemorrhage
- Surgical bleeding, including cardiac and orthopaedic surgery
- Menorrhagia and other bleeding associated with hyperfibrinolysis
