Uses of Feriark-CB inj
A parenteral iron preparation for iron deficiency anaemia where oral iron has failed, is not tolerated, or where replacement has to be rapid.
The iron is held inside a carbohydrate shell so that it can be delivered without releasing free iron into plasma, which would be toxic. Ferric carboxymaltose allows a larger dose in a single sitting than iron sucrose, which is the practical difference between them.
- Iron deficiency anaemia where oral iron is ineffective or not tolerated
- Iron deficiency in chronic kidney disease
- Iron deficiency in heart failure, as directed
- Postpartum anaemia and preoperative optimisation
