Uses of CEFARK
A cephalosporin, the beta lactam class that carries most of the antibacterial volume in an Indian hospital. Later generations reach further into Gram negative cover, including Pseudomonas for ceftazidime and cefepime.
Several presentations in this range pair the cephalosporin with a beta lactamase inhibitor such as tazobactam or sulbactam. The inhibitor has little useful antibacterial activity of its own; it occupies the enzyme that would otherwise destroy the partner drug, which restores activity against organisms that have become resistant by producing that enzyme.
- Lower respiratory tract infection, including hospital acquired pneumonia
- Complicated urinary tract infection
- Skin and soft tissue infection
- Intra abdominal and gynaecological infection
- Surgical prophylaxis, for the agents indicated for it
- Septicaemia
