Uses of Avzolid IV
An oxazolidinone, active against Gram positive organisms including MRSA and vancomycin resistant enterococci, and notable for achieving similar exposure whether given intravenously or by mouth.
That oral bioavailability is clinically useful: a patient can be stepped down from the infusion to tablets without losing exposure, which shortens intravenous line time. It is not a Gram negative agent and is not used as one.
